Youth Fire Academy Summer Camp Programs

This summer, the Springfield Township Fire Department will conduct three Children's' Fire Academy programs.

The programs are free and open to Springfield Township residents and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.   Each program will be conducted at the Springfield Township Fire Headquarters located at 9150 Winton Road. The Friday classes included dinner, a graduation ceremony and a mini combat challenge for all participants.

*Each Academy will have a mandatory parent orientation the evening prior to the official start of the program. An official registration form with a liability agreement will be filled out at orientation. You will be contacted with the orientation time.

Kids Fire Academy  ages 8-12

June 23-27, 10 a.m. - 12 noon  (Tuesday-Saturday) 

Students will learn about the daily activities of a firefighter Basic first aid and CPR, making fire escape plans, proper use of a fire extinguisher and serve weather safety will all be taught.




Special Fire Academy  any age with special needs

June 27  2:00p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The Special Fire Academy will be an afternoon program that is tailored for children in wheelchairs or have have any other special needs. Parents will participate with the child in this program. Together you will visit different booths and participate with interactive fire safety activities. Demonstrations will be conducted in the Fire Safe House and everyone can join in the fun.



Junior Fire Academy ages 13-17 

July 13 -17, 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. (Monday-Thursday) and 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Friday. 

Students will participate in hands-on fire safety activities. The program includes dressing in firefighter's gear, breathing from a SCBA, using auto extrication equipment, fire extinguisher training and basic first aid and CPR.
